Lisa Grossman is a native of Slippery Rock, a small university town in rural western Pennsylvania. In 1988, she received an associate's degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and moved to Kansas City, Missouri to work as an illustrator for Hallmark Cards, Inc. Lisa soon discovered the Flint Hills, a region of native tallgrass prairie, two hours west of town and began painting the landscape in earnest. In 1995 she left Hallmark to finish a BFA in painting at the University of Kansas, to do freelance illustration, and to paint. Lisa lives in Lawrence, Kansas, where she is painting and printmaking full-time, focusing her attention on the Flint Hills, the Kansas River, and open spaces surrounding Lawrence.
Grossman's work is represented by the Dolphin Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri, the Strecker-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas, the Gallery at Cottonwood Falls, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, the Ruth Morpeth Gallery in Hopewell, New Jersey, and the Lotus Gallery in Beijing, China. Her work can also be found in public and private collections around the country.
